. . . you get a Contractor License in Virginia - (703) 922-9228
Virginia contractor 8-hour Pre-License/Business course
Why should I bother taking the 8-hour Pre-License course in person, in a classroom, for $209, when I can just take it online for $89?
Because the Don't Build Until Basic Business / Pre-License course is:
taught by a construction lawyer who served a 4-year term on the Virginia Board for Contractors, and
based on the BLD 242: Construction Management IV course your instructor taught for 4 years at Northern Virginia Community College.
You get a comprehensive overview of construction law and business in Virginia:
All the licensing and testing requirements so you have a road map of action items
Detailed review of the license application and documentation requirements that can cut down the amount of time it takes to get your license
Samples of experience verification forms so you get pre-approved for the specialty you want
How to run a successful construction company and reduce your risks
The legal aspects of running a business and how to stay out of trouble
Pre-License education is required for ALLnew contractor's licenses, and is a completely separate requirement from the Class A and B exams. Based on informal DPOR Board for Contractor findings, contractors who end up taking Remedial Education because they got into trouble, invariably took their Pre-License courses online.
As of March 1, 2016 it's become much more difficult to get a Virginia Contractor License. Now, to qualify for a specialty, you have to submit the Individual Experience Verification Form along with the Application Form to get DPOR approval to register for any of the specialty tests.
Don't make the mistake of submitting your application without first truly understanding the process, and the importance of how you describe your work experience and the verification needed to back-up your application.
What sets Don't Build Until apart?
1. With Don't Build Until, you get an instructor with a background in construction, business, and law, who goes through the paperwork, page by page, and discusses the do's and don'ts of the application process - and how it affects your company now, and in the future.
It's a small classroom setting, limited to eight students, so that each one understands what they have to do to be a successful construction contractor in Virginia.
2. Other education providers operate in dozens of states, and don't do any of them very well. Don't Build Until specializes in Virginia, and keeps up on changes, so you have the most current information.
